VIRKEIN

Hi, my name is Virkein Dhar. I am a curious cat and an integrator fox.

After more than a decade of experimenting to find ‘pre-existing roles’ that could define all that I do, I have finally chosen to only share how I work and where I can add value, rather than create a designation.

If you’re challenged by a problem you don’t know how to define, are seeking new, creative ways to reach your goals, or have the best idea but no way to know what’s next, then I’m probably the person you’ve been looking for.

Now you’re most certainly thinking that either I am some sort of genius or a complete fraud. I wouldn’t blame you :) However, my response is - I’m neither.

In plainspeak I am what you can call a deep generalist who integrates brand development with strategic design and culture.

I do not carry a solutions ready reckoner in my pocket and don’t use (automated templates) templatised design manuals. What I do keep with myself at all times is curiosity and empathy.

Powered by a wide range of interests, abstract/lateral thinking superpower, and my creativity regimen, I thrive in complex, ambiguous and volatile environments, emblematic of the wicked world we inhabit and will continue to encounter in the future.

I read patterns, discover connections and cross pollinate ideas across unrelated worlds to create impact.

And you may ask, so what! How is this helpful for anyone? I would say-

I ask the right questions, leverage deep expertise from specialists and drive outcomes that stick.

If you believe your organisation, brand or next big idea will gain from the above, I’d love to help.
If you’re intrigued and want to know more, I’d be happy to chat.
If you’re looking for quick or ready solutions, share what you need. I’ll let you know if I can provide them.

Work with me

I am part humanist, part technologist, part ecologist and part capitalist. That makes me someone who believes in a future that is embedded with values of care and community, while leveraging technology and business to create equitable, resilient ecologies.

Great!
I look forward to meeting you, learning more about your organisation and understanding how I can help.

Let me begin by telling you a little about myself and what I like to work on. Hopefully this will save us both time by making sure we’re a good fit.

I like to help innovation teams, early-stage businesses and research organisations address complex scenarios (be it related to a product, service or projects) through creative problem-solving and strategy development.

My goal is to understand and assess your project or business from a systems (big picture) perspective, and develop a detailed roadmap towards achieving your goals. But the devil is in the details, ALWAYS! That is what sets apart a one-time engagement with a relationship of a lifetime.

I like to focus on design and people. My interest is in strategic design and developing an approach to delivering on long term goals (of your business, brand or project). Being people-centric means that I spend time and attention in collecting and analysing perspectives from your stakeholders (clients, audiences, customers or teams) to inform my design or recommendations.

I particularly believe in developing equitable organisational cultures that support learning, are resilient and built on transparent processes. I love building environments for immersive engagement, and structures to support frugal innovation.

The forms of my recommendations remain varied depending on your needs, these may include but are not limited to cultural strategy, programme development, experience design, product management, stakeholder assessment, facilitating partnerships, design research and writing.
